London is one of the best places to explore High Tea ceremony. Many renowned restaurants and hotels offer such an experience. The question is always the same: what to choose? Through our discoveries we would recommend to pick Claridge’s Hotel for such a ceremony. Claridge’s is a luxury 5 star hotel in the Mayfair with over 100 years of history. This place was always popular among celebrities and crowned heads of Europe.  Some of the world’s greatest designers have left their mark on Claridge’s. Original features mingle with distinctly modern twists, refining the effortless Art Deco elegance that makes London’s finest hotel so special. Afternoon Tea is served in Claridge’s magnificent art deco Foyer and Reading Room on beautiful Bernardaud green and white striped porcelain – which has been made exclusively for Claridge’s. A classical pianist and accompanying musician both add to the elegant atmosphere; live jazz is played often too. Afternoon Tea is a special treat, and you are advised to book few months in advance if you want to secure a slot on a weekend and about a month in advance if it is during a week. Believe me, this is worth the wait! Claridge’s offers special teas on various occasions – such as Easter, Mother’s Day, etc. During such times, you will be served additional specialties and will indulge in complete luxury of this experience. Service is always flawless; waiters would eagerly help you with tea selection and very often refresh your tea; offer additional pastries, scones; basically anything that your heart desires! The ceremony usually starts with the fine selection of finger sandwiches; followed by freshly baked raisin and apple scones served with marco polo jelly and traditional Cornish, clotted cream. The jam deserves to be noted – it is tea-infused and produced by a famous Tea company in France, Mariage Frères.  The flavour is very delicate and unique. We must warn you that more is yet to come: chic French pastries, which change every day and can include a range of rich chocolate cakes, seasonal fruit tartlets and desserts presented in shot glasses with a variety of flavours and textures. Once you enjoy the world passing by, you can also be well entertained as you can observe other guests entering into the Gordon Ramsay restaurant. Interesting crowd indeed! And if you still feel a bit hungry, then an exquisite plate of chic French pastries is awaiting you. Pastries change every day and can include a range of rich chocolate cakes, seasonal fruit tartlets and desserts presented in shot glasses with a variety of flavours and textures. Our favourites are: isphahan, pistachio panna cotta with raspberry & strawberry culis topped with meringue... If you are not convinced yet, then how about a glass of vintage champagne, to set you in the right mood for this unique experience? back
